简介：Chlorfenapyrisapesticide,andspecificallyapro-insecticide(meaningitismetabolizedintoanactiveinsecticideafterenteringthehost),derivedfromaclassofmicrobiallyproducedcompoundsknownashalogenatedpyrroles.TheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgencyinitiallydeniedregistrationin2000foruseoncottonprimarilybecauseofconcernsthattheinsecticidewastoxictobirdsandbecauseeffectivealternativeswereavailable.However,itwasregisteredbyEPAinJanuary,2001foruseonnon-foodcropsingreenhouses.In2005,EPAestablishedatoleranceforresiduesofchlorfenapyrinoronallfoodcommodities.Chlorfenapyrworksbydisruptingtheproductionofadenosinetriphosphate,specifically,\"OxidativeremovaloftheN-ethoxymethylgroupofchlorfenapyrbymixedfunctionoxidasesformsthecompoundCL303268.CL303268uncouplesoxidativephosphorylationatthemitochondria,resultingindisruptionofproductionofATP,cellulardeath,andultimatelyorganismmortality.\";Chlorfenapyrisalsousedasawoolinsect-proofingagent,andwasintroducedasanalternativetosyntheticpyrethroidsduetoalowertoxicitytomammalianandaquaticlife.
