简介：Vomitoxin,alsoknownasdeoxynivalenol(DON),isatypeBtrichothecene,anepoxy-sesquiterpenoid.Thismycotoxinoccurspredominantlyingrainssuchaswheat,barley,oats,rye,andmaize,andlessofteninrice,sorghum,andtriticale.TheoccurrenceofdeoxynivalenolisassociatedprimarilywithFusariumgraminearum(Gibberellazeae)andF.culmorum,bothofwhichareimportantplantpathogenswhichcausefusariumheadblightinwheatandgibberellaorfusariumearblightinmaize.Adirectrelationshipbetweentheincidenceoffusariumheadblightandcontaminationofwheatwithdeoxynivalenolhasbeenestablished.Theincidenceoffusariumheadblightisstronglyassociatedwithmoistureatthetimeofflowering(anthesis),andthetimingofrainfall,ratherthantheamount,isthemostcriticalfactor.However,increasedamountofmoisturetowardsharvesttimehasbeenassociatedwithloweramountofvomitoxininwheatgrainduetoleachingoftoxins.Furthermore,deoxynivalenolcontentsaresignificantlyaffectedbythesusceptibilityofcultivarstowardsFusariumspecies,previouscrop,tillagepractices,andfungicideuse.ItoccursabundantlyingrainsinNorwayduetoheavyrainfall.
