简介：Dimethenamidisawidelyusedherbicide.In2001,about7millionpoundsofdimethenamidwereusedintheUnitedStates.Dimethenamidisregisteredforcontrolofannualgrasses,certainannualbroadleafweedsandsedgesinfieldcorn,seedcorn,popcornandsoybeans.Supplementallabelingalsoallowsuseonsweetcorn,grainsorghum,drybeansandpeanuts.Inregisteringdimethinamide(SAN582H/Frontier),EPAconcludedthattheprimarymeansofdissipationofdimethenamidappliedtothesoilsurfaceisphotolysis,whereasbelowthesurfacelosswasduelargelytomicrobialmetabolism.Theherbicidewasfoundtoundergoanaerobicmicrobialdegradationunderdenitrifying,iron-reducing,sulfate-reducing,ormethanogenicconditions.Inthatstudy,morethanhalfoftheherbicidecarbon(basedon14C-labeling)addedwasfoundtobeincorporatedirreversiblyintosoil-boundresidue.
