简介：α-Hexachlorocyclohexane(α-HCH)isanorganochloridewhichisoneoftheisomersofhexachlorocyclohexane(HCH).Itisabyproductoftheproductionoftheinsecticidelindane(γ-HCH)anditistypicallystillcontainedincommercialgradelindaneusedasinsecticide.Lindane,however,hasnotbeenproducedorusedintheUnitedStatesformorethan20years.Atambienttemperaturesitisastable,white,powderysolidsubstance.Asof2009,theStockholmConventiononPersistentOrganicPollutantsclassified(α-HCH)and(β-HCH)asPersistentorganicpollutants(POPs),duetothechemical'sabilitytopersistenceintheenvironment,bioaccumulative,biomagnifying,andlong-rangetransportcapacity.
